South Africa’s youth are resilient and filled with potential – yet they have the highest unemployment of all age groups. Over 62% of youth aged 15 to 24 do not have jobs*. Our JumpStart programme is taking urgent action, equipping unemployed youth with sought-after retail and manufacturing skills to help unlock career potential.

It’s your future, choose carefully! For youth with a Matric pass, JumpStart offers five training programmes
designed to open doors to entry-level positions.

For tertiary graduates, two professional training programmes are designed to transfer key industry
know-how and boost career prospects.

JumpStart skills development programmes are designed to unlock opportunities for unemployed youth in the retail and
manufacturing value chain. These programmes are run in partnership with our awesome employer partners,
including Mr Price Group businesses and the SPAR Group.
JumpStart programmes equip youth with key skills for entry level to management positions in the retail and manufacturing value chains. Programmes are ever-evolving to ensure they match industry demand.
JumpStart programmes blend industry-specific theory with life skills and work experience to ensure youth are genuinely prepared for the working world.
Suitable candidates enter a talent pipeline for our employer partners. Employment is not guaranteed, but JumpStart works closely with our partners to connect youth to opportunities.

All JumpStart retail programmes begin with a life skills course. It includes the following modules: personal development, self-esteem, emotional development, healing of the past, vision and goal setting, communication, conflict resolution, work ethic and time management, basic HR principles, personal health and job prep.
For the online life skills course, candidates must have access to data and a computer or smartphone.
