DO THE JUMPSTART CHALLENGE 2023 and join the league of South African sports heroes, including former Sharks rugby star Charl McLeod, SA Rugby Legends Wayne Fyvie and Jeremy Thomson, and former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes.

“Sport and physical activity gave us our jumpstart in life and hopefully through this, we can help give youth their start! I am looking forward to the JumpStart Challenge,” said Charl.

Every rand raised by this awesome event goes directly to Mr Price Foundation’s JumpStart programme, to empower unemployed youth. Entrants can ride, run or walk a range of distances – either virtually or physically – from a modest 3km up to a testing 100km.  The weekend of 4 and 5 March is the big physical event at Holla Trails in Sugar Rush Park, Ballito. Mountain bike events are on 4 March, and run/walk events on 5 March. The virtual Challenge is from 27 February to 5 March.

For Jeremy Thomson, the JumpStart Challenge is all about uplifting youth. “I’m doing the JumpStart Challenge to give our youth a chance to believe that they can achieve their dreams. If they keep pushing to gain new skills through a programme like JumpStart, there is a real possibility they can open doors to employment and break the cycle of poverty and inequality,” said Jeremy.

Some sports heroes have committed to do the challenge at Holla Trails, while others, including Jonty Rhodes, have committed to the virtual challenge wherever they are in the world.

The JumpStart Challenge is launching an exciting new event at Holla Trails on 4 March: the Glide & Ride Cup. A mini ‘grand-prix’, the Glide & Ride Cup will see boys and girls on balance kids zooming around a safe track.

The Glide & Ride cup is for children aged 2.5 to 4.5 years, ensuring the JumpStart Challenge offers something for every member of the family: from families with young children, dogs and prams; to elite athletes; and teams of colleagues.

There will be awesome giveaways at Holla Trails, including 500 free caps, prizes for the best hero dress up, and big surprise prizes.

So, grab your treads and trainers and get active for a great cause.
